André Laame creates modern and expressive illustrations with painting and drawing. In his painting he works with a lively ductus. Typical for his drawings is his elegant stroke. From time to time, he also reaches for oil and acrylic paints - when timing permits.

»I'm looking for images, which are able to describe moods and evoke emotions. The style is a very important means of expression. Therefore I'm not limited to only one way of illustration. Rather the topic leads me in the right direction for my research and experimentation until I have found the best interpretation. I like to use close-up views with carefully selected colors. I am particularly interested in social and cultural topics.« André Laame

André Laame studied illustration at the University of Applied Sciences in Hamburg. He won the Elysée Prize for painting. Together with his wife he founded SEPIA, the agency for illustration. After fourteen years in Hamburg, he moved to Münster in 2016. In April 2024, he received the Merit Winner award from SPD 59 (Society of Publication Designers, New York).
